Ada - A computer language (pronounced Ayda) developed
for and sponsored by the U.S. Dept. of Defense for widespread government
use. The language was named after Ada Augusta (1816-52), Countess of Lovelace
(and daughter of the poet Byron), mathematician and assistant to Charles
Babbage, whose computer design in 1834 contained many of the concepts of
modern computers.
