Migration

They come over here
Year after year
Without so much as a by-your-leave
Let alone a steady income
No paperwork, no passport
No visa smooths their passage
But not for them the dangers of the Tunnel
Instead they fly freely in
Settling on our homes and trees
Moving into our gardens and fields
Raiding our grubs and worms
Stuffing their faces with our fruits and berries
Raising their chicks at our expense.
The P.M. sends out vans
‘Illegal avians, go home!’
